Shading turns into a proportion of value and furthermore a sign of weakening. In excess of 700 normally happening carotenoids have been distinguished (Britton et al., 2004). Carotenoids are generally disseminated though C40 isoprenoid shades with polyene anchors contain up to 15 conjugated twofold bonds. They outfit blossoms and organic products with unmistakable hues (e.g., yellow, orange, and red), which can draw in pollinators What's more carotenoids assume significant jobs in photosynthesis, light gathering, and counteraction of photooxidative harm (Britton et al., 2004). Carotenoids can be delegated carotenes (sans oxygen; e.g ÃŽ ²-carotene) and xanthophylls (oxygen-containing; for example lutein, zeaxanthin, neoxanthin, violaxanthin, and antheraxanthin (Fig. 2). Fig. 2. Substance structures of chosen carotenoids The polyene chain of carotenoids is liable for the shade of plants and organic products. The length of the chromophore impacts the shading, for instance from the dreary phytoene, by means of the orange shade of ÃŽ ²-carotene to the red of capsaxanthin (because of the expanding number of twofold bonds). Other than the shading, the polyene chain is answerable for the precariousness against a few natural elements for example oxidation, warmth and light or oxidizing substance (Britton et al., 2004). Carotenoid colors are gathering of bioactive intensifies that are important to the food researchers, nutritionists and food ventures because of their positive effect on human wellbeing and their financial advantages. This report additionally centers around the innovations of distributed computing and their application in an association. Distributed computing is a method to utilize cloud based administrations that are for the most part offered by the outsider. IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS are the advancements of distributed computing (Zissis Lekkas, 2012). Distributed computing There are a few difficulties and issues identified with the distributed computing appropriation as clarified underneath: Difficulties There are a few difficulties in distributed computing, some significant difficulties can be expressed as: Productivity of the administration provisioning is the top most test in distributed computing that incorporates formation of versatile designs for making this new execution effective. Utilization of advancement instruments and segments, adaptability, and asset the executives, and accessibility of administrations are the destinations under this test (Rong, Nguyen Jaatun, 2013). Another test in distributed computing is the Effectiveness of Service control and utilization, which incorporates power over the administrations by the clients (any association or an individual), obligation, and government and acceleration instrument. The third difficulties id the straightforwardness of administration charging and conveyance, in which area and information procedure ought to be all around clarified, checking SLAs and quality affirmation, and permit the board (Schewe et al., 2012). Data Security and information protection is the most concerned test for this execution. Expanding this there are a f ew different difficulties like Portability between suppliers, interoperability inside the framework, reasonable rivalry and Compliance with the administrative prerequisites. Issues Absence of standard can be expressed as the basic issue underneath the difficulties clarified previously. Exceptionally less endeavors had been made till now, for characterizing the guidelines for the distributed computing. So as to explain these issues about what necessities to occur, is specialist co-ops, government, innovation organizations, and clients should consolidate and put forth a deliberate attempt so as to embrace and create industry-wide principles for the Cloud (Chen Zhao, 2012). This ought to likewise incorporate all the between authoritative partners. Important Technologies and Applications Following is a table portraying the different advancements utilized in distributed computing: Sort of Service PaaS Iaas SaaS Administration customization Rationale Resource Template Server Template Application Template Administration checking Rationale Resource Monitoring Physical Resource Monitoring (Hashizume et al., 2013) Application Monitoring Administration estimation Rationale Resource Usage Metering Physical Resource Metering Business Resource Usage Metering Administration class Internet Operating Environment, Online Database, Online Message VM Rental, Online Storage Application and Software Rental (Garrison, Kim Wakefield, 2012) Administration level Management Dynamic Orchestration of Logic Resources Dynamic Orchestration of Physical Resources Dynamic Orchestration of Application Distributed computing is another and inventive model for giving IT administrations and business. IaaS, PaaS and SaaS are the three degrees of distributed computing administration that can cover a wide scope of administrations. Other than the administration conveyance model and the figuring administration there are different uses of distributed computing, which can be recorded as: right off the bat, stockpiling foundation, programming application, different models, for example, information, programming model and some more (ODriscoll, Daugelaite Sleator, 2013). Security Issues Information breaks: Data penetrates are the one of the most significant protections issues in distributed computing, which brings up an issue With touchy information being put away online as opposed to on premise, is the cloud inalienably less sheltered? According to the discoveries around half of the safety efforts of an association needs security experts and IT (Hamlen et al., 2012). Insider danger: dangers from the insider assault appear to be impossible, however there are conceivable outcomes of inside dangers that exist inside the arrangement of distributed computing. Representatives of the association may utilize their qualification for the approval access to the cloud-based administrations of the association and abuse the delicate data of different workers and can likewise control or uncover the data identified with the authoritative tasks of the association, which may lead a genuine misfortune for the association. Malware infusion: This is another kind of security issue that may influence the presentation and appropriate activities of the association. In fact, it is a code or content in the cloud benefits that carries on as legitimate occurrences and run like the SaaS cloud servers (Curran, Carlin Adams, 2012). This made them imperceptible and, which gives it a capacity to be infused into the cloud benefits and be covered up by acting as a piece of the administration or programming that is running with the cloud servers. This could lead interlopers access to the touchy data, which can be abused in different ways. Protection Issues Client Control: It could be raised by both the purchasers and legitimate issues. Information control and perceivability gets constrained by actualizing cloud administrations into the framework, as the administration is being offered by the outsider (Pearson, 2013). Loss of Legal Protection: Migrating information into the cloud can lead towards the loss of legitimate insurance of security, due the contribution of outsider in information getting to (Kshetri, 2013). Unapproved use: The outsider, who is offering the types of assistance, could take the advantages of the information that is being spared into their database or the cloud. These information can incorporate from focused promoting to the re-deal information. Significant Issues The issues those have left in the above conversation, which needs concern, are: Uncertain APIs: Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) give customers openings so as to modify their cloud understanding. Be that as it may, these APIs can be danger for the associations cloud security because of their very nature. There are the conceivable outcomes of defenselessness of an API that can happens in the correspondence between the applications (Srinivasan et al., 2012). This can support business and developers from multiple points of view; anyway they likewise desert exploitable security dangers. Maltreatment of Cloud benefits: A model can make this point more clear, advantaged clients can be answerable for the roundabout or direct increment the security dangers, which resultsinfringe on the standing of utilization that had been given by the specialist co-op. These incorporate sharing of pilfered recordings, programming, books, or music that can bring about legitimate outcomes, which can be in the formsof remuneration orfines. An association or individual can decrease its presentation to chance by observing the utilization and setting new rules for what the representatives can have in the cloud. Common Vulnerabilities: Cloud security is a subject of shared obligation between the customers and the suppliers. This can be moderated if the customers and suppliers share the duties, and work together in overlooking individual dangers can bring about making sure about the associations information being undermined. Information Loss: Malicious assault can bring about the loss of information in cloud, which can be a cataclysmic event, or an information cleaning by the Cloud specialist organization. The business that doesn't have any recuperation plan or reinforcement status, losing essential and delicate data can be an overwhelming to the organizations. Amazon and Google are the instances of such undesirable circumstance, as both have lost their information because of common disaster (Wang et al., 2012). Effect of the Issues The effect of such issues can be unfortunate, in view of the sort of data and measure of information that is being spared into the cloud. This could even prompt the conclusion and completion of an association business. These issues can prompt the uncover, control, and erasure of information that are significant for the association. The business runs on the information that is being put away by it, which incorporates extremely delicate data and information identified with the client, customers, accomplices and some more. This can likewise prompt payoff assault, which could influence the best possible working and monetarily. In view of the discoveries made above it tends to be expressed that Cloud figuring may help the association in changing the conventional operational exercises into advanced structure however it prompts a few issues that can't be ignored. These issues can be littler or tremendous dependent on the effect in any case, these are matter of worry for any individual or association rehearsing it. The advancements IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS can offer better support like distributed storage, application, information availability anyplace, however can't relieve the issues identified with the IT foundation of the association and cataclysmic events that may influence the information by interlopers or unapproved clients. Digital security ought to be solid and very much modified for both association and cloud specialist co-ops, which can help in ensuring the information or data that is being put away in the cloud. End In view of the above report it very well may be presumed that strolling side by side with the new computerized world requests distributed computing into the framework. There are uncountable advantages of this imaginative innovation and relocating information from individual servers to the cloud can be a helpful viewpoint for the association. In any case, there are sure issues related with the protection and security, which can't be wiped out yet can be decreased so as to keep the data hidden and secure. Masculinity and Crime Quantitative Exploration

Question: Discuss about the Masculinity and Crime : Quantitative Exploration . Answer: Introduction: Intimate partner violence is the major issue at global level. In Canada, almost in every 6 days one woman is killed by her intimate partner, and in 2009 almost 67 womens were killed by their intimate partners. 54 % girls aged between 15 and 19 suffer sexual coercion during their dating relationship, and women aged between 25 and 34 are the victims of physical and sexual assault by their intimate partners as compared to women age 45 and more (BWSS, n.d.). However, through feminism and other movements related to women led to improvement in situations of women and perceptions of society is also changing towards them. After reviewing the latest articles on domestic violence and victimization through intimate partners, two approaches are developed and discussed in this paper. First approach is related to violence against women and men, its causes and impacts. Second approach is related to power, control and cycle of domestic violence. In this paper, we discuss the concept of the social construction of either masculinity or femininity as it pertains to domestic violence, and correlation between social construction of masculinity or femininity and domestic violence. Domestic violence: Domestic violence means any violence which is based on gender and results in or may be result in physical harm, mental harm or any other type of problem to women and also includes coercion, arbitrary deprivation of womens liberty. In 2010, there were almost 102500 victims of domestic violence caused by intimate partners are identified, and it also includes spousal violence and dating violence. This translates the rate of 363 per 100,000, and number of victims of intimate partner violence is more than the percentage of violence against child happens in family. Victims of violence occurred during dating is higher in number than the victims of spousal violence. Report stated by police shows female victims are more in case of intimate partner violence (Sinha, 2012). In 2013, almost 336000 peoples are victim of family violence, and among those almost 27% peoples are victimized by their intimate partners. 53% people were victim of domestic violence and 47% people were victim of spousal violence. There are some situations in which relationship between two is end but that does not end to the threat of violence. Report shows that almost 33% victims related to intimate partner violence were attacked by their former spouse or dating partner, and almost two third victims related to violence were threatened by their current partner (Juristat, 2015). Social construction of Domestic Violence: Domestic Violence cursing our society from many years, and the basic question is why there are number of abusive relationship exists in our society. The answer to this question is control, because of the factors contributing by men to their masculinity which results in abusive relationship and violence. There are number of situations when men dont have any control over their partners which make them feel that their masculinity is threatened which led to violence against their partner. Mens always want to be in power whether at their work place, home or any other place, and only way they see to get that power is their tough, strong or masculine behavior. Masculinity and violence: Many theories stated that masculinity and violence are connected with each other. Some scholars stated that masculine violence is usually related to how badly males influenced the mind of the society, and masculinity is considered as symptoms of gender specialization. No matter whether violence involves masculine frustration or masculine socialization, there is no way to separate the masculinity from violence against women. Aggression and violence both are the result of masculinity and no matter what it affects the everyday life of person (Omar, 2011). There are number of evidence which support the fact that masculinity and femininity are constructed in different ways and these ways are based on the social conditions. According to James Messerschmidt, masculinity is malleable traits which are constructed in daily relationships with other peoples. He also stated that violence against women is also considered as resource to construct masculinity in society. Usually, mens apply different forms of violence which are based on resources available to them for achieving their gender. Different ideologies are developed over time which depends on structure of societies. These ideologies explain the different types of abuse used by men and they also stated the reasons why men are not abusive (Totten, 2003). Theory of Feminist: The ultimate cause of violence against women is patriarchy, and from last few years domestic violence was studies by many scholars and they conduct detail research on this topic. During the period 1960-1970 when feminism introduced, then number of scholars assessed the history of feminism, impact of misogyny, and gender inequality in different situations of life. This will result in publication of first work on violence in 1970s. After analyzing the various reviews it is clear that patriarchy is the ultimate cause of all violence against the women, and it is also noticed by scholars that patriarchy is the only social factor which led to violence against women. Violence against women is based on the terms of power struggle. Feminist scholars argued that in society males have all those powers and males choose the way of violence whenever their power is threatened. Therefore, this concept of feminism on women violence is correct, and many articles related to feminist stated that violence against women is a result of patriarchy society, and also the attempts made by society to maintain the male dominance in the home as well as in society (Tracy, 2007) Gender-Based Violence in Canada: GBV is basically an approach of an unequal society and it also restricts the aim of achieving society in which there is no gender discrimination. This concept is followed and encouraged by patriarchal structure of society, and it also encourages the other discrimination in the society which includes racism, colonialism, and poverty. These practices of discrimination encourage the power imbalances, and increase the chances of victimization. This approach also acts as barrier for accessing supports. GBV gets its support from gender stereotypes which support the rigid practices of gender roles. Basically, it defines the definition of being men and being women, and it also stated who should be attracted to whom and romantic and normal relations. GBV also encourage the attitude which results in violence against women and girls. In 2014, more womens are victimized as compared to men. According to police report womens are victimized 11 times more as compared to men., and girls are victimized 4 times more than boys (Status of women Canada, n.d.). In 1987, West and Zimmerman provides the idea of doing Gender. They define the concept of gender as a routine accomplishment that is created and maintained with the help of everyday interaction. In this author identify those practices which show that masculinity is directly linked to criminal behavior. Author further stated that masculinity is not something that happens to men but it is something that mens do. There are number of practices and patterns which exist in society and represent the masculinity. Therefore, it is clear from above arguments that if non criminal resources are not available then criminal and alternative resources are used by men to achieve masculine gender (Krienert, 2003). Conclusion: In this paper we discuss the theory related to masculinity and femininity, and also the affect of these theories on society. After reviewing the articles from different authors it is clear that these approaches play important role in defining the gender. Gender based violence is basically encouraged by the persons who support the rigid practices of gender which led to violence against women and girls. It is clear that if mens are not able to achieve the masculine gender from normal resources then they opt for criminal resources and other alternative resources. At last, we conclude that construction of our society is done in such a way which constantly encourages the masculine and feminism behavior of mens and womens respectively. References: BWSS. Water symbolize (the stone ang Essay Example For Students

Water symbolize (the stone ang Essay Water can symbolize many things throughout the novel. Whether it is in Manawaka, the Pacific Coast or Shadow point, what is constantly recognized in the number of times water is used. If one were to closely examine these situations, they would soon discover it’s symbolic importance. In the novel The Stone Angel, water is presented in the many fluctuations, in Hagar’s life. Hagar goes through many stages in her life, where water is represented but without it being physically present. Without the imagery of water, the story would be less effective and meaningful for the reader. When Hagar reaches Shadow Point, hungry and confused, she eats some food from her paper bag. She feels restored but is very thirsty because she forgot to bring water with her. â€Å"There’s no water-none. How has it happened? I’d give almost anything right now for a cup o tea.† (153, The Stone Angel) Hagar is mad at herself for not remembering to bring water with her. This shows how important water is for Hagar’s well being. When she wakes up the next day, she is wandering around and finds â€Å"A rusty and dinted bucket beside a shed has gathered the rain water for † (186, The Stone Angel) Hagar. This symbolizes a sign of hope and life since it is a known fact that man cannot live more than three days without water. At this point Hagar is feeling good about herself for being able to survive this long. We will write a custom essay on Water symbolize (the stone ang specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now When Hagar first gets to Shadow Point, she is desperate for water. Hagar â€Å"can’t drink seawater†, because â€Å"it meant to be poisonous.† (186, The Stone Angel) This shows that water is sort of a paradox. It is meant to do well but it can also do harm. When one reaches a point where they must have water but all that is available, is salt water, where it can do harm if one tries to drink it. It can also demoralize their hope. The novel states, â€Å"It was at dusk, all shapes and colors having turned grey and indefinite, that my brother Daniel, skating backward to show off for the girls, fell in.† (23, The Stone Angel) Hagar doesn’t really tell the pain she felt for losing her brother because she wasn’t really one to express her emotions. This is one of the lower points in Hagar’s life that shows how water can kill. After Hagar is found by Marvin and Doris, she is taken to the Hospital. Here she complains plenty about the condition s. When staying around Mrs. Jardine, Eva says, â€Å"Mercy, does my hair ever need a good wash.† (266, The Stone Angel) This just goes to show how little they wash at the hospital. When one in cleaned with water, they feel cleaner because they know that they smell and look fresher. Hagar goes on to say, â€Å"A person can’t give their hair a wash without permission.† (270, The Stone Angel) This is just like saying a person can’t look clean without permission in a hospital. This is depriving people of their need for cleanliness. Hagar needs to be clean in her own eyes because she is so concerned about what others think of her. In Hagar’s first night at Shadow Point, a light rain suddenly awakens her. The novel says,â€Å"Rain. I waken groggily in the darkness, and for a moment I wonder if Doris has been in yet to close my window. Then fumbling my way out of sleep, I realize where I am†¦.. A mild rain, fortunately, not like the thunderstorms we used to get on the prairies, when the lighting would rend the sky like an angry claw at the cloak of God.† (161, The Stone Angel)This represents spiritual baptism for Hagar because she has come to Shadow Point to get rid of all her troubles. It is just like she is being cleaned of all the sin she has committed. At this stage in her life, she feels stronger because the weight of her sin has been lifted off her shoulders. When Hagar is rescued by Murray Lees, it seems that she was taken off to heaven when she is taken to the

ERP story Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

ERP story - Case Study Example Another big challenge was regarding the data definitions and standardization among the three member companies and their systems. The project should enable consistency in data. Also the data should be available to everyone on a real time basis unlike current situation. A big challenge was also identified in non-standardization of interfaces for different applications and companies. Similar interfaces were desired for all systems as a result of the project. This would enable rotation of employees and easier knowledge transition. A major desired characteristic of the project was to ensure that the accounting and financial systems of the 3 companies are in sync and there is minimal manual intervention and control. There is also a need to make the human resource management processes more efficient by realizing economies of scale and leverage the individual capabilities of the 3 companies to the advantage of the whole group. Another characteristic of the project would be to create a uniform sales and marketing environment for the 3 companies and to leverage the use of internet and social media. Jean Roberge has identified his challenges and characteristics in mainly 2 areas which are obviously very important. However, he seems to have neglected challenges in a very important area which is People Management. In such a huge ERP project, the implementation would change the entire way in which people are going to work. Therefore, the required change in the mindset of the people is a big challenge (Wong et. al.). Therefore, a desired characteristic of the project should be to have training and counseling sessions for people to enable a smooth transition. These sessions would also enable them to overcome their apprehensions regarding lay-offs and job-cuts. Another challenge which should be considered is data migration. Migration from old systems to new systems especially in case of huge historical data could be a big challenge and can take days or

Should China be promoting big business groups Pick several groups to Essay

Should China be promoting big business groups Pick several groups to show why or why not, using contrasts, in the context of th - Essay Example   Smyth et al.,  2004). Within the sector of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) the development of  large scale enterprises has been progressing  (Nolan,  2001; Nolan, 2002). The policy makers in the country and the organizational leaders have made immense endeavour to nurture large  enterprise  groups. These leaders have aspired to upgrade these groups and transform  them  into  internationally  competitive  transnational  corporations (Sutherland, 2007). Such unorthodox development bore fruit and led to the outstanding growth for the country (Nolan, 2001). The China miracle: an overview China has exhibited significant growth for the last three decades, which has attracted attention of the developed countries. The tempo at which the country has transformed itself from being a peasant society to an industrial powerhouse, guarantees that the country has the potential to achieve a growth rate of several times greater than the current rate. If things continue in th is pattern, China might surpass the present advanced countries of the western world (Krugman, 1994). Economic development had been initiated in China around 30 years before and the outcome is miraculous. The GDP growth rate in China on average has reached 9.8 percent in 2010 (Lin, 2010). It has surpassed the rate foreseen by analysts in 1980s and 1980s. These reforms had been initiated by Deng Xiaoping with the goal of increasing the GDP of the Chinese economy by four times within a span of twenty years. The vision with which Xiaoping had launched this reform was to achieve a 7.2 percent annual growth rate for the economy. Since 1979, China’s economic performance has improved at a massive rate. In 1979 the country’s â€Å"trade as a percentage of GDP was only 9.5 percent† (Lin, 2010), while by 2010, China has reserved for itself the position of the highest exporting country in the world and the third largest country in terms of imports. At present the countryâ⠂¬â„¢s trade contributes approximately 70 percent of the country’s GDP. In this span of 30 years, 600 million Chinese residents have been brought out of poverty through this dazzling economic growth (Lin, 2010). The development path followed by China after the reforms of 1979 has been devised by the policy makers keeping in mind the real scenario of the country. It has therefore been possible to implement these policies successfully. While some contemporary economies had tried to bring radical changes or treat the economy with shock therapy, the effects of these changes have not been holistically beneficial for these economies. China has therefore been able to take exceptionally huge strides of performance and has moved ahead of most other developing nations of the world. This rapid growth experienced by the Chinese economy for thirty years at a stretch and the consequent sustainable improvement in the standard of living of its population of 1.3 billion has been termed by res earchers and observers as â€Å"the China Miracle† (Liming, n.d.). By avoiding radical reforms and by following a step by step process of transformation the economy has been able to bypass the negative impacts of change and avoid striking social unrest within the country. The process of China’s transition China has primarily been an agrarian society. With industrial revolution the economy faced a speedy movement away from the traditional agricultural society in which almost 85

Operational Readiness And Airport Transfer Programme

Operational Readiness And Airport Transfer Programme Different types of operational problems are witnessed when commissioning new facilities, especially during the first day of operations, potentially resulting in poor performance and disruptions reflecting negatively on the organization. Many organizations require carrying out a readiness assessment of the new systems and facilities An operation readiness strategy will allow airport operators to dot right and most important to do it right the first time prior to the commissioning. It is critical that on the opening day of an airport, the airport personnel is fully trained to effectively implement correct airport procedures and for all equipment to be in good working condition. The scope of work includes the safe and effective handling of passengers, efficient transfer of baggage, effective handling of the new facilities and equipment and an effective emergency plan. The New Airport Terminal King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAIA) is one of four international gateways in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is also one of the busiest airports during Hajj and Ramadan seasons. Due to the growth in passenger numbers, the development and construction of a new terminal is essential to meet with the daily demands, and this is what GACA (General Authority of Civil Aviation) intends to do. In fact, construction work of the new terminal has already been started. And the number of necessary handovers will require a clear and reliable guidance on what aspects are to be taken into account when dealing with the handover of facilities / buildings and systems. Our project aims to ensure a seamless transfer from construction to operation, avoid any serious difficulties during the end of the construction phase and contribute to the timely completion of the overall project. The development of a clear handover process will contribute to the operational readiness and prepare a more dependable warranty process. Operational Readiness and Transfer Program The complexity of an airport operational readiness project depends predominately on the systems and equipment employed and the time available for preparedness; rather than its physical dimensions. ORAT (Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer) is the key of success to achieve the operational goals. Purpose of ORAT Coordinate and assist stakeholders including external consultants, in the implementation of a defined operational readiness program for new infrastructure or services covering Operations and Maintenance from design phase through to operational implementation within a given timeframe. Conduct design review for new infrastructure to assess its suitability to meet operations and maintenance related objectives as well as international and national standards and regulations, and additionally prior to construction, identify and assist in the resolution of any design issues which may have a negative impact upon Facilities Maintenance processes. Ensure operational readiness planning is conducted in a timely manner through the establishment of O M stakeholder groups to, identify interdependencies and resolve operational issues as well as implement operational readiness time scheduling to facilitate accurate management reporting. Facilitate communication processes between departments and subsidiaries to ensure that the implementation of the requirements, including certification of all Regulatory Authorities and other government agencies is coordinated and well integrated within operational processes. Oversee and/or assist with the development of O M related standard operational procedures as well as operational contingency procedures for new infrastructure and services, ensuring correct operational integration. Oversee the implementation of maintenance training for new infrastructure and services to ensure that all new users can meet the required service levels to ensure the safe, effective, efficient and coordinated operation of the airport by operational due date. Ensure new infrastructure maintenance practices are operationally validated where practical, through testing of all operational interfaces between facilities, systems, procedures and human resources within a given timeframe. Ensure that operational validation testing includes all relevant stakeholders both internal and external. Review and/or assist in the development and implementation of contingency plans to manage any identified operational risk prior to the introduction of new client infrastructure or services. Oversee and/or assist in the development of Transition Planning to ensure a smooth transition is effected of new maintenance related infrastructure or services. Goals of ORAT Program Involvement and commitment of all airport users Resolution of operational interface issues Successful trial operations and relocation Timely inauguration Efficient operation from Day One Higher quality and service level standard Specification and Scope of Project The objectives of ORAT include having a coordinated approach to prepare all airport stakeholders including the airport operators, airlines, ground handlers, cargo agents and various government agencies, such as Customs, Immigration and the Central Industrial Security Force for the shift of operations to the new airport. Besides, it also has to ensure that there is streamlining of procedures, each and every person involved with the airport knowing their roles and responsibilities. The development of a clear written guideline of the overall handover process with all involved parties and their respective tasks is the objective of this project. After knowing the airport system and its flow of work First, all parties working in the airport and their roles should be defined. This step involves airport, contractors and government staff to ensure and specify the job description with no overlapped responsibilities. Second, these responsibilities are written in a clear guideline. Here, the guideline can be modified many times to reach the optimum goal of the work process. Changes are due to many reasons such as, enhancing the performance, changes in laws, modifications in some areas. Finally, application of the guidelines to ensure everybody is playing his role and getting feed backs for enhancement As building maintenance engineer, building maintenance is the concern of this project to set an example and expanded later to other divisions. Fraport in Brief METHODOLOGY 2.1 CONCEPTS An operation readiness strategy will allow airport operators to dot right and most important to do it right the first time prior to the commissioning. It is critical that on the opening day of an airport, the airport personnel are fully trained to effectively implement, correct airport procedures and for all equipment to be in good working condition. The scope of work includes effective handling of the new facilities and equipment and an effective emergency plan. To achieve ORAT goals, there are prerequisites to implement it which are: Facility: Hardware such as construction, equip. Information: procedures manuals Systems: AIMS, BHS, FIDS, NAVAID Security System Human resource: organization, qualified persons. Figure : Operational Readiness prerequisites Which is sometimes referred to as FISH, and a function checking components can be listed for each prerequisite as: FACILITIES Follow up of provision of facilities in respect of time, quality and quantity. State necessary operational conditions for rooms/equipment Alignment of requirement with available facilities Develop space requirements Approval of space requirements Develop equipment requirements Approval of equipment requirements Commissioning of the Operational availability of facilities INFORMATION State who has to provide which information in whatever form. Develop a processing procedure for these informations State necessary operational conditions for exchange treatment processing and transfer of information State intra-departmental responsibilities Approval of informational treatment and responsibilities. State what will be reported to whom, in what ever form SYSTEMS Creation of a dedicated IT-application for processing data. Assessment of necessary systems. Approval of these systems requirement. Procurement and/or adaptation system if not provided or not capable Implementation of system and application. Testing of connectivity of system and application. Commissioning of system and application. HUMAN RESOURCES Assessment of manpower requirements (qualification / quantity) Approval of manpower requirement by delegate Initializing of recruitment procedure by HR-department Selection of applicable personnel Hiring of selected personnel Training of hired personnel. An airports function can be divided into the Core Processes listed below, which are necessary for the operation of a major international airport. Development of Procedure As mentioned before, the project will concentrate on the maintenance and engineering department, point of view, to give a clear job description for all employees and their respective tasks. Fraport team had already cut a long path in this procedure. Learning the techniques and ways of how Fraport develops such a system is the purpose of The Young Professional Program. Procedures are till know being changed in Fraport, and are updated due to the daily requirements. Our goal is to catch-up with changes, discover the solutions with Fraport and implement them in KAIA. Fraport ´s organization differs than KAIA, in this case, it is our responsibility to search and soothe the project to be implemented in KAIA. Working with Fraport team for three months is a great opportunity. Even though the time was short, but the knowledge was intensive. Procedure Manuals Manuals have been collected with the coordination of Fraport operation team. Here I would like to notice that the Terminal team is responsible of the operation of the terminal as well as the maintenance of the terminal. Work tasks for every employee can be found here in the manuals. Looking at the manuals, and knowing how the work should be done, a system workflow can be developed. Then, a written form of these work tasks and responsibilities can be shown for every employee. The written form also describes what and how to do to accomplish the job. Results are stored in special system and which then connected to PCs to show progress and improvements if necessary. Identifying Stakeholders Achieving and maintaining the operational readiness stage of airports depends on the readiness of the entire airport community. The objectives of ORAT include having a coordinated approach to prepare all airport stakeholders including the airport operators, airlines, ground handlers, cargo agents and various government agencies, such as Customs, Immigration and the Central Industrial Security Force for the shift of operations to the new airport. Besides, it also has to ensure that there is streamlining of procedures, each and every person involved with the airport knowing their roles and responsibilities. Operation Maintenance Role The operation and maintenance role falls in to the service of their customers. Terminals operation and maintenance team, specially, are unique because they face and deal with the main costumer of the airport.

Marijuana research paper Essay

In today’s society there are a list of many banned drugs which in coincidence are the five most used drugs by most individuals. These drugs are methamphetmine, cocaine heroine, ecstasy and marijuana, out of all five of these drugs one that I believe to be the most scrutinized is marijuana, known also as cannabis. I believe this drug is the most harmless illegal substance in the world, especially when compared to its counterparts. Marijuana not only has the least negative side effects to your body but it is also the only drug that is used in a social, musical, medical and cultural manner. The most popular of all recreational drugs, Cannabis, or Marijuana, Grass, Hemp, Weed, Pot, Hash, Dope or a variety of regional names has been cultivated for thousands of years. Derived in various forms from the Cannabis plants, Cannabis Indica or Cannabis Sativa, is native to central Asia but its cultivation and use is global. It is a Psychoactive and a Psychedelic. It can be smoked as leaves or flower buds, it can be ground down to isolate the crystallized sap and then pressed into a solid, or the resin extracted by collection via contact with the sticky plant parts.(http://listverse.com) This excerpt from listverse.com explains why marijuana use is so commonly used not only in America but across the globe. What makes this drug adorn by many of it users are also the proclaimed â€Å"negative† side effects, constant smoking or overdosing on marijuana results in â€Å"being forgetful, over sleeping, not getting things done, concentration difficulties, neglecting work or duties, loss of balance or dizziness, problems with performing tasks, and nausea (Hammersley, R. and V. Leon, 2006).† These side effects may not be looked too as negative by on the user, especially when compared to its counterparts. An overdose of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroine will almost always lead to â€Å"seizures, coma, and loss of a life† (http://mental-health.emedtv.com) Marijuana is acclaimed by many of its users as the â€Å"ultimate stress reliever† and what better place relieve stress than at college, a place where for four to five days out of the week students are overwhelmed with the stresses that come from the many classes they take. This explains why college is a perfect example of marijuana being used in a social setting where one can obtain the drug in a calm environment with little authority from parents or the police. Through my college experience I have met students who enter college deciding they will never smoke a day in their life, I have also met students who admit they were peer pressured into at least trying the substance and I have met students who have said they tried marijuana out of straight curiosity. In an interview held with a female Old Westbury student, who’s name is preferred not to be mentioned, I asked the student â€Å"how long have you been smoking marijuana?† student replied â€Å"I would consider myself a newcomer to smoking pot, I started this semester.† I then asked â€Å"why did you choose marijuana out of all illegal drugs to use?† she replied â€Å" I honestly choose marijuana because all of my friends were doing it, I saw after smoking many of them would go from uptight to calm and funny, not having a care in the world, I wanted to feel for myself what the â€Å"hype† was and depending on how I reacted to pot would determine if I would continue smoking or not†. My last question before ending the interview was the big one, â€Å"Do you still continue to smoke marijuana†, with a smirk on her face she said â€Å"yes I do, not often like my friends but on Thursday after a long week of homework and classes I smoke one to ease my mind and forget about my tough week, plus it puts me to bed (laughing)†. Marijuana use has and still continues to be a cultivating driving force in the music industry, specifically hip hop. During the 80’s and 90’s many of the great hip hop legends; Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur and Notorious Biggie Smalls all have been known for there outstanding musical abilities but also for their public habit of smoking or as the street term calls it â€Å"getting high.† Many individuals look at these artist and automatically assume ignorance when in fact when under the influence of marijuana these artist have said some of the most prolific lines in hip hop. Tupac Shakur is quoted saying I believe that everything that you do bad comes back to you. So everything that I do that’s bad, I’m going to suffer from it. But in my mind, I believe what I’m doing is right. So I feel like I’m going to heaven. This quote spoke meant allot to me and I’m sure to many young adults that are just like me who live a life of violence and chaos. Often as teenagers we feel that since we are not living the supposedly â€Å"Godly† way that includes attending church regularly, helping other and praying at night that we ourselves don’t hold a place in heaven, that we are the scums of the earth. Lines such as these mentally help us make it through our days and allow us to understand that they are other people out there who are going or have went through our daily struggles. Hearing words like that from your icon, you can only imagine the relief that boy’s and girl’s feel knowing someone who made it out a bad situation was going through exactly what you were, simple words can really make an outstanding difference to an individual. Marijuana in the music industry is not only used through the rappers who say the lyrics but it is used also by the producer’s who come up with the beat and flow, the core of the song that sometimes allows you to feel the music in a way that no rapper may be able to get across. Famous producers such Pharell and rap mogul Dr. Dre are both Grammy winners who make their music while under the influence, the drug puts them in a calming place were their mind can roam and listen to each instruments and bring them together in harmony, yes this task can be done sober but these two producers have made some of the beast beats in the world, it only goes to show once again marijuana is not as self destruction drug as it rivals cocaine or heroine . Medical Cannabis refers to the use of the drug cannabis as a physician-recommended herbal therapy, most notably as an antiemetic. Cannabis has been used for medicinal purposes for approximately 4,000 years. Writings from ancient India confirm that its psychoactive properties were recognized, and doctors used it for a variety of illnesses and ailments. These included a whole host of gastrointestinal disorders, insomnia,  headaches and as a pain reliever frequently used in childbirth. In the 1970s, a synthetic version of THC, the primary active ingredient in cannabis, was synthesized to make the drug Marinol. (Why Is Smoking Cigarettes Bad For You? | LIVESTRONG.COM) Marijuana is yet again used as a beneficial part of our society but instead of the individual users who use it for leisure or to have fun, marijuana is used for the sick and impaired. Known by its correct term as medical marijuana, the drug is used to relieve muscle spams, chronic pain, glaucoma, weight loss(in smoking marijuana one of the few side effect is called â€Å"the munches† during this time the user will crave to want food. People who don’t often eat will more than likely have a good portion plate of food or a snack) Aids and Cancer. Having a grandmother who was prescribed marijuana for her excessive swollen feet conditon I personally saw the positive effects the drug had her. Marijuana allowed my grandmother to relax and focus less attention on her feet, being under the influence put my grandmother in a happy place where her pain no longer bothered her as much as it would if she was sober. What she always enjoyed about marijuana was that she could smoke it, coming from the Caribbean’s smoking marijuana was a normal thing, something she had grown accustomed too. She much rather smoke instead of swallowing pills, being old fashioned she thought the side effects of pills would be detrimental to her health. Smoking marijuana has had an impact on the lives of those who suffer from depression and low self esteem. Joan Bello, author of The Benefits of Marijuana: Physical, Psychological & Spiritual, is quoted saying; Marijuana will not tolerate repression. Tranquilizers and depressants relax the body and release tension, but the state of mind associated with these drugs is â€Å"unconsciousness† whereby we escape rather than resolve our dilemmas. Alcoholism is an extreme need of both the body and personality sometimes to release the nervousness that has accumulated and continues to build up to an unbearable degree. It serves the same function for the collective personality for the society, as well A culture in which alcohol and tranquilizers are the prevalent form of release prefers not to witness  internal confusion and actually choose to act without conscious participation, maintaining a semi-numb condition. Mr. Bello not only speaks about the positive of marijuana use but he also speaks on how smoking puts you at a better state than one of its many counterparts alcohol, who when under the influence liquor individuals tend to act angry or in rage, marijuana users are always put in a calm statement, which is reason to why after smoking one side effect the user may feel is tiredness. Marijuana usage has not been secluded too only America, it has made a huge cultural impact on the tropical island community, specifically Jamaica. Jamaicans have a subset group of people on the island that participate in a religion known as Rastafri, as Catholics partake in the Eucharist and Muslims participate in Ramadan, the Rastafarian lifestyle usually includes ritual use of marijuana, avoidance of alcohol, the wearing of one’s hair in dreadlocks, and vegetarianism. Rastafrains look at marijuana as the hold plant and have scriptures in the bible to prove that they aren’t making it up, Psalm 104:14: â€Å"He causeth the grass for the cattle and herb for the service of man.† The marijuana or as they call it gangja is also used for social and medical purposes. Marijuana is used primarily during the two main Rastafari rituals: reasonings and nyabingi. The reasoning is an informal gathering at which a small group of Rastas smoke ganja and engage in discussion. The ritual begins when one person lights the pipe, or â€Å"chalice,† and recites a short prayer while all other participants bow their heads. The pipe is then passed around the circle until all of the people have smoked. The reasoning ends when the participants depart one by one. Rasta’s do not condone any other drug beside marijuana because it is the only God given plant, it is not tainted with any human contact unlike alcohol methamphetamine cocaine or heroine. These rastas normally live long healthy lives, which only proves that the drug does not do serious damage to your body. So far they are eighteen legalized marijuana states in the United states. Regardless what the majority may say I believe marijuana has made a positive impact on the world. . The amount of deaths that occur from smoking cigarets or drinking alcohol is in the millions and yet it is still being used, marijuana has had zero deaths in its history. The next time you see someone high or in the act of smoking think about the pros and cons and then make your decision.

Buffalo Bill’s Defunct

â€Å" Buffalo Bill’s Defunct† Joey Willoughby ENG 125 Introduction to Literature Instructor: Katie Newbanks 5/16/2011 Buffalo Bill’s Defunct E. E. Cumming’s,† Buffalo Bill’s Defunct† is a somewhat difficult poem to interpret. The poem displays peculiarities of sound structure, as well as line and stanza. What we don’t see, in this poem, is as vital to our understanding of the poem, as what we do see. â€Å" Buffalo Bill’s Defunct† is an extremely short poetic piece consisting of only eleven lines and is a free verse, open form classification of poetry in reference to mortality. The poem can also be considered as onomatopoeia in nature due to the utilization of words to represent sound. The nature of the poem is also based on a centralized protestation of death of an individual that provided enjoyment to the lives of others. Example: how do you like your blueeyed boy Mister Death. Cummings sarcastically refers to â₠¬Å"blueeyed boy† as simply another deceased person, as opposed to his earlier depiction of Buffalo Bill’s appearance as a â€Å"handsome man† with many accomplishments in life.My interpretation of the poem is that he appears to be saying to Mister Death †You took him, but you’re not going to get any enjoyment from doing so. † Cummings is essentially blaming Mister Death and insinuates to him that he will give Buffalo Bill new life. There were many composites of this particular poem that captured my attention at the very beginning of the analysis. The particular style of wording of the poem (structurally) suggests to me an arrowhead. This is significant as in life Buffalo Bill, a frontier scout was associated with Native Americans and was a wild west outlaw. The unconventional syntax, style of language, and lack of punctuation also attracted my attention to the poem. Cummings also uses eccentric topography and word arrangement in his work. Exampl e: The word Defunct, (line 2) is an eye catching word as it dwells in a space where one would expect to visualize the word â€Å"dead† or â€Å"deceased. † (Clugston, R. W. ) Single words are presented to the reader as complete lines. Example: (line 1) Buffalo Bill’s, (line 2) Defunct, (line 7) Jesus, and (line 11) Mister Death. The only capitalization of words are (line 7) Jesus, (line 1) Buffalo Bill’s and (line 11) Mister Death. â€Å"Buffalo Bill and Mr. Death enclose the poetic material and â€Å"Jesus† is set apart by itself, to the furthermost right extremes of the poem. Example: (line 1) the beginning – Buffalo Bill’s and (line 11) Mister Death at the poem’s end. (Clugston, R. W. ) The word arrangement also attracted my attention. Example: (line 6) â€Å"onetwothreefour pigeons† and (line 6) â€Å"justlikethat. †This presentation of words is known as neologisms, which is defined as a new usage of a word.Th ese visual effects are intended to assist in the translation of what we read. Example: ( eye;gt;voice;gt;ear) so that we recognize the stress in each instance. For example, in (line 6) â€Å"onetwothreefour pigeons† one can almost hear the short, sharp sounds of the gunshots in the rapid fire shooting of the clay pigeons. I believe that poetry is meant to be heard. â€Å"Buffalo Bill’s Defunct† definitely provided this sensory effect, as I could almost hear the gunshots via reading the words of the poem. This type of word arrangement could also be an indication that Cummings possessed a great admiration for Buffalo Bill’s shooting prowess and is a direct reference also, to the â€Å"Wild West Show† circa (1890) where Buffalo Bill performed in his later years. In (line 7) of â€Å"Buffalo Bill’s Defunct,† Cummings uses the single word â€Å"Jesus† which was quite baffling to me. I came to the conclusion that this provided a contr ast between â€Å"Jesus† who is typically referred to in the light of love and peace, while Buffalo Bill was notorious for fights and etc.In comparison of Buffalo Bill and Jesus both are noted to have an association with the death process. (Clugston, R. W. ) Metaphorically speaking, Cummings utilized two very opposing characters in his poem, Buffalo Bill and Jesus. The metaphoric process is very unique in the fact that it sets objects which are unlike together and hones in on getting the reader to acknowledge the resemblance between the two. In (lines 4 -5), Buffalo Bill’s horse is an excellent sensory image, as one can almost visualize the gray-colored, sleek steed with Buffalo Bill as rider galloping across the plains. This signifies that the poem possesses aesthetic merit, as we envision the beauty of this mighty stallion. (Clugston, R. W. ) The differences between speech and poetic form affected my experience of the poem by allowing me to put myself in Cummingâ€⠄¢s position and actually feel what he was feeling as he wrote the poem. Cummings is saying, Okay, Buffalo Bill is dead, but he will forever be remembered as he was when he was living. â€Å"You can’t take that away, Mister Death!Perhaps the final rhetoric question to Mister Death says it better: â€Å" how do you like your blueeyed boy† He is essentially telling Mister Death that (you have him, but you do not have in your possession what we had. )(Clugston, R. W. ) â€Å"Buffalo Bill’s Defunct,† addresses a common human experience â€Å"death† and puts emphasis on the fact that those who have passed over are gone, but not forgotten. E. E. Cummings, â€Å"Buffalo Bill’s Defunct is a somewhat difficult poem to interpret. The poem displays peculiarities of sound structure, as well as line and stanza. What we don’t see is as vital to our understanding of the poem, as what we do see. Here’s to Buffalo Bill. May he remain as alive in our lives today as when he rode his handsome stallion in the â€Å"Wild West Show† of yesteryear. References Clugston, R. W.
